On December 1st boxing fans are treated to an early Christmas present as two of the current unbeaten heavyweight kings collide in an anticipated clash. WBC champion Deontay Wilder and former unified champion Tyson Fury meet in an epic clash to determine who really is the man on top of the division. Currently the heavyweight scene is booming with prospects and contenders who are all looking bright for the future, but at the top of the tree stands three names who divide boxing fans and pundits when it comes to declaring who is the best out of the bunch. Those men are Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Deontay Wilder.

All 3 men possess unique qualities which separate them from the rest of the division and which is why they currently sit firmly at the top of the divisions food chain as the predators. Anthony Joshua the current unified champion of the division (WBO, IBF, WBA, and IBO) brings sheer size, strength, and desire to the ring which has so far help power him through the division’s contenders. Tyson Fury brings size, movement, awkwardness, and a boxing IQ which allows him to be a general in the ring. Then there’s Deontay Wilder an athletic heavyweight blessed with enough speed and power combined to knock out any heavyweight at any time during a fight.

During the summer months talks were on going between the promotional teams of Wilder and Joshua in organising a mega fight between the two, but after back and forth offers and negotiations the fight never managed to materialise leaving fans frustrated and disappointed. But that disappointment didn’t last long as it was soon announced that Tyson Fury was interested in matching up with the WBC champ permitted he got through his latest warm up fight against Italian heavyweight Francesco Pianeta unscathed.

Thankfully Fury got an easy one sided 10 round decision win without exerting much energy in the fight, and the second major heavyweight fight that could be made this year was on. Many fans and pundits feel that this fight has come too early for Tyson as it will only be his 3rd fight after two long years out of the ring and falling off the wagon. But the self pro claimed Gypsy king is adamant that this is far from the case. His familiar confident self-assured mannerisms are ever present in the press conferences for this fight, but also a seriousness of respect and appreciation for his December 1st adversary, highlights that Tyson knows what challenge he’s up against and if he didn’t feel that he was up to the challenge at this moment in time, he certainly wouldn’t have signed the contact.
